Somehow I always get the impression that she is known but not really, like people know her face and somewhat who she is but can't actually place her, or remember her name. Do you get that impression?

But I think, she can create something big in the Hollywood by her own style. Not clothes. Her face, her acting...Just need a good story. Wherever it is, she needs it now

Well it is huge. I didn't mean she'd play one of the teenagers but there's usually guest-starring roles attached for adults, like the teachers from Harry Potter, the mentors from Hunger games etc. That's not what would bring her awards but it would fix her name out of that "grey area".

^ I agree that Kate is in a bit of a 'grey area' in terms of public perception. The Underworld films are successful but it's quite a niche audience.

I hope she signs up to something soon. Otherwise, she won't have any films released in 2013. Maybe she's hoping Total Recall will build some momentum and give her access to better scripts? I think she would work if offered a promising project - she has talked about having more free time now that Lily is older.

Who really knows at this point. Kate seems to work in spurts. She'll do a bunch of films all at once, like last year. Then she'll go a spell without doing anything. I don't think fame is Kate's problem. Everywhere Kate goes, there are throngs of fans and admirers seeking her autograph. Whenever she steps on the red carpet, cameras go off and everyone shouts her name, like few other female celebs. So I don't believe fame or notariety is a problem. I sometimes think the perception of Kate as an actress gets tainted because her best films and best performances are not seen by many people. But films like Whiteout, Pearl Harbor, and Van Helsing are seen by everyone. So people discount her as an actress because that's what they know her by.

As I said before, I don't think Kate needs to be the lead in every film. I think she should also look for good supporting roles, or secondary roles.

Although it would help make her a bit more mainstream for people if she had a really big movie or a small part in one of the really big franchises

Total Recall is just such a film. It is a huge, mainstream film that everyone knows because of the original film. However, it won't be a franchise because it's highly doubtful this will get sequels. So it won't be a franchice. But it is a huge, mainstream film that will be seen by a lot of people.

It's so true that her best performances are in the lesser seen films. Underworld aside, she doesn't have a film that the general public strongly associates her with.

I hope she'll get a big US or UK magazine cover to promote Total Recall.

Yeah, and I don't know if Total Recall will do that. Despite being big, it's more of a Colin Farrell movie. We'll have to wait and see, it depends on her character, how remarkable it is, how she plays it, etc.

Yeah, if Total Recall turns out to be huge, it will benefit Len Wiseman and Colin Farrell. I doubt it would do a lot for Kate. Although being in a huge film definitely can't hurt. But it's more of an ensemble type film.

I can see where it would benefit Kate a bit. However, if the film is a big success, it benefits Len most of all, followed by Colin. He's the lead.

I agree with that, every time I talk about her to anyone really, they have a hard time remembering who she is. That is, until I remind them of Underworld. Thus far it seems she is known for being the sexy kick-ass vampire. I do hope she gets into some bigger roles, and I'm hoping Total Recall will do it, (gets her better well known); but who knows.
