I love these guys. I don't understand why suddenly there are so many Greenday haters out there. One of their best album since Dookie.

added: 14 Mar 2007 // by: Marco Gandolfi

punkbands reports: Green Day has announced they will be covering John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" to benefit Amnesty International's campaign to end genocide in Darfur. Instant Karma, an all-star album benefiting Amnesty International's campaign to end the Darfur genocide, arrives June 12 with an elementary pitch.

The basic $19.98 CD has 20 John Lennon covers, including the title track by U2, Working Class Hero by Green Day (a video is also expected), Mother by Christina Aguilera, Power to the People by the Black Eyed Peas, Love by The Cure, Jealous Guy by Yousou N'Dour, Imagine by Willie Nelson and Real Love by Regina Spektor.

Green Day real humans
added: 13 Apr 2007 // by: Marco Gandolfi

Billie Joe and family are currently in New Orleans volunteering their time to Habitat For Humanity. Each day they are going to send Green Day an update with pictures of how their day went. Billie Joe writes: Today we worked at the upper 9th ward. I hung soffit over the front porch. I had to do some upside down hammering technique but we managed to get the job done.

We felt a great sense of accomplishment when we finished. Before I nailed the last piece of soffit, I reached inside and wrote my name with a pencil and dated it. Ben is a great construction leader. Jason was a great partner. It was amazing to see everyone getting their hands dirty in good conscience, working together for the greater good.

As part of a charity album of John Lennon songs to help the suffering African population of Darfur, to be released on May 25, Green Day will release Working Class Hero tomorrow (May 1st) as a download. The track will be available to purchase through iTunes and will feature some of Lennon’s original vocals. .

The album will include Christine Aguilera, Aerosmith, Corinne Bailey Rae, U2, Black Eyed Peas, Snow Patrol and Jack Johnson. The project, titled 'Instant Karma: The Campaign To Save Darfur', will feature REM’s version of #9 Dream.
