This is a badly made art house film. Now, I'll take that over the vampire movies anyday, especially if it has Kate, and Gary Oldman besides. But it is a very unintentionally silly movie at times, with Gary Oldman (5'10'') playing a dwarf, and scenes with a baby that is clearly a dummy. There is one really true scene where Kate first meets the family of dwarfs and expresses her horror at herself for considering aborting her unborn baby. I believe there is something on IMDB about the director disowning the movie at the Sundance festival. However, tThere are probably five or six other short scenes where Kate is really acting her socks off but the writing and direction, and the excrutiatingly bad Matthew McConaughey, pretty much undermine the works. Peter Dinklage and Patricia Arquette also give fine performances. I haven't figured out yet what to think of Gary Oldman's performance since it sometimes feels like he's playing a dwarf version of the character he played in Nobody's Baby.
Also, kids, since I'm the probably the only actual dwarf on this web site, the term is dwarf, not midget. You would know that if you watched the film with your ears open.
