Anyone ever seen this or has pictures from it? I'm really curious about this since it was Kate's very first movie.

Never heard of it. Was it made for British TV?

Half.com has a few VHS copies for sale if anyone is interested.
The Greeks didn't have obituaries. They asked one question after a man died. Did he have passion?

Her early roles

Postby Poshboy » Fri Oct 14, 2005 6:52 am

This was her first on-camera role anywhere, which isn't bad for a girl of 17. She had a solid secondary role in this Hallmark production, which I watched on TV years ago before buying a VHS copy for my Kate collection. I don't think this one will make it to DVD, unless Hallmark TV wants to release a collection of their made-for-TV movies.

Kate was enthusiastic when performing the role, but not overdoing it. She was the daughter of one of my favorite quirky actresses, Judy Davis. Kate's role required her to fall in love with a German soldier, a definate no-no since her mother was part of the Resistance.

After Kate finished this movie in the summer of 1990, she was off to Oxford's New College, where she immersed herself in studies for two years. She acted in school productions, where she met her first boyfriend. It wasn't until her second year that Kate landed the part for "Much Ado About Nothing," which she filmed during summer 1992. By that time, she wanted to explore the world, and wound up in Paris for her third year at Oxford.

That year, Kate made the very obscure "Marie-Louise" (filmed 1993, released 1995) and eventually decided that university wasn't in the cards for her. She wound up in Spain in early 1994 for the filming of "Uncovered," and after that didn't go anywhere, she landed the part of Flora Poste in the BBC production of "Cold Comfort Farm" in fall 1994.

Etc., etc....and all not bad work for someone who was only 21 by the time filming began in London for "Cold Comfort Farm."

I saw this on British TV a few years ago. It was quite successful on American TV when it was first shown around 1990. I think it was nominated for Emmy's or something like that. It was based on the true story of a British-French woman who joined the French Resistance, was tortured by the Gestapo, and sent to a concentration camp, but survived and lived to a good old age. Kate's part in the movie is quite small but she is very good in it.

This is the Kate first movie , is so cute and young.
The movie is very good, and the script is definitely involving.

I haven't seen this one. This, and the French movie she was in are probably the only two of her's that I've never seen.
