Kate To Debut as a Producer

Kate is set to produce her first film, from the Daily Mail:

Actress Kate Beckinsale is set to make her debut as a producer and wants Kate Winslet to star in her first movie – wearing a fat suit.

Beckinsale, 39, left, has signed up to produce a film about the life of activist Erin Pizzey, who established Britain’s first women’s shelter in Chiswick, West London.

She has commissioned novelist and screenwriter Emma Forrest to write the film based on the life of Erin. And according to the real-life Erin, Winslet, 37, will take the starring role.

‘Kate Beckinsale grew up in Chiswick and told me how she remembered walking past the refuge and seeing mothers and kids coming in and out – and wondering about them,’ says Erin, who was in LA over Christmas to discuss the film.

‘She told me she wanted to make a film of my life and that Emma would write the script.

‘Kate Beckinsale is going to be in it but she won’t play me – she’s not fat enough!’

Erin opened the first refuge for women in Chiswick in 1971.

But by the middle of the decade, she was picketed by feminists for allowing men to staff the centres.

‘A lot of the film will be about the battle and the picketing that went on and the threats and the difficulties I faced,’ Erin added.

‘The feminist movement won’t be hostile to the film as feminism is more rational now.’

Kate Covers Easy Living

Kate is on the cover of Easy Living UK’s February issue. Here is an excerpt from the interview:

On her husband, Len Wiseman:
“He’s a gentle soul, everyone who’s worked with him is sort of astonished by what a sweetheart he is. He doesn’t yell. And the directors of the kind movies he does normally have to yell at somebody just to blow off steam. I find it impressive that a person can have so much responsibility and pressure, but never seem to take it out on somebody.”

On her career as she approaches 40:
“I’m 39 – you don’t have to push me! I didn’t think of my age at all until I did this last round of press interviews. What is it about a woman being in her late thirties that brings out the ‘Oh, my gosh, are you worried?’ Questions? Worried? What about? My father died when he was 31. I think the alternative to aging is so much worse. Thirty-eight, 39, 40, 50! Great! Stay alive!

On giving her daughter advice:
“There are things I don’t want my daughter to ever know. I don’t want her to know about being betrayed. I hope that I’ve given her a really great model to know when things are authentic and when they’re not, and who you should trust. I hope she knows what it feels like to be truly loved so that she doesn’t waste her time when she’s not.”

Kate Wants to Return to Rom Coms

Courtesy of Yahoo News:

Kate Beckinsale, who is known for her action film roles, has revealed that she would love to be offered more romantic comedy parts in the future if the scripts were funny enough.

The 38-year old actress also claimed that she would want to explore as many movie genres as possible.

“I haven’t done many romantic comedies because I’m a huge snob about comedy and I often don’t find them very funny,” Contactmusic quoted her as telling Total Film magazine.

Beckinsale currently stars in Len Wiseman’s sci-fi remake ‘Total Recall’ with Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel and Bill Nighy.

She plays Lori, Colin’s feisty on-screen wife who helps him run from the police after a memory-altering procedure goes awry.

Kate is delighted with her new role and admitted that big blockbuster roles are few and far between.

“The ones that make you go, ‘Ooh, let me play that’ don’t come around every two weeks. I’ll go months, maybe even years where I don’t find something that I want to do,” she said.

“And sometimes you go, ‘Right that’s it, I can’t hibernate forever and you do something that isn’t your dream job, but gives you something that’s interesting,” she added.

Kate Covers Allure’s August Edition

As part of the publicity for Total Recall, Kate is on the cover of Allure, with pics and an interview inside. The magazine will hit stands on July 24. Here is an excerpt from the interview plus pics, courtesy of Allure.

On not feeling attractive until she was a 29-year-old:
“I didn’t feel very attractive as a child, and actually I wasn’t. Feeling attractive didn’t come until I was 29 and with [my husband] Len [Wiseman]. Maybe it has to do with not having had a dad. I’d never experienced a father saying, ‘Oh, you look good.’ If you have a good relationship with your dad, you have a chaperone in your own mind. I love my stepfather, but it’s different with a stepfather. I probably waited until I had that feeling with somebody who was so madly attracted to me that I could sort of relax and aim it at him. And then it kind of exploded, and all of a sudden I was the sexiest woman alive.”

On not getting caught up with having been named ‘Sexiest Woman Alive’:
“I think the risk of being the sexiest woman alive is that you don’t want to ever have sex again. You don’t want to wear a bikini again. You want to wear some nice overalls and a trucker’s hat. Anyway, you’re only that for a year, and then you’re done. You’re old news. I don’t know who it is right now, but it’s not me.”

On husband Len Wiseman:
“He’s a very gentle soul,” Beckinsale says of her husband, director Len Wiseman. “Everybody who’s worked with him is sort of astonished by what a sweetheart he is. He doesn’t yell. And, you know, directors of the kinds of movies he does normally have to yell at somebody just to blow off steam. I find it impressive that someone can have that much responsibility and pressure and never seem to take it out on somebody.”

On avoiding risque material for her daughter’s sake:
“Well, I haven’t done an awful lot of nude scenes. And I’ve been somebody who has had a child for a very long time. Most of my peers don’t have a 13-year-old. And it’s embarrassing. My daughter said to me, ‘You know, I’d really love it if you never said the word “vagina” in an interview again.’ Whoops. I’ve just done it.”

  • On being beautiful: “Feeling attractive didn’t come until I was 29 and with Len. . . . At the time it was partly perceived as if I’d gone all Hollywood, but it wasn’t like that at all. It was just OK for me to walk around and feel feminine and attractive. I like feeling liberated like this.”

  • On aging: “What is it about a woman being in her late 30s that brings out the ‘Oh, my gosh, are you worried?’ questions? Worried? What about? Thirty-eight, 39, 40, 50! Great! Still alive! It’s more of the thing of being embarrassing to somebody. I haven’t been embarrassing before. I can’t dance at a party where there are teenagers without clearing the dance floor. Those are the things that make me go, ‘F*ck, I’m old. . . .’ When you’re a parent, everyone leaves.”

  • On her teenage daughter, Lily: “There are things I don’t want my daughter to ever know. I don’t want her to know about being betrayed. I remember Len talking to Bruce Willis when Len did Live Free or Die Hard, and I think Bruce did some terrifying things when his daughter started having a boyfriend. Len and I asked him, ‘When Lily starts having boyfriends, will you come over too? We’ll all stand on the doorstep, scare the sh*t out of them.’ But maybe now I don’t need Bruce. Now that I’m a villain, I can go solo.”

Kate Beckinsale’s Fave Homemade Popsicles

No treatment is quite like a refreshing ice cream for a hot summer day. Sometimes, however, you simply do not want to leave the house, and all store brands are full of sugar too much anyway. Why not save yourself some stress and unnecessary travel using the ingredients you already have in your home to make your own delicious homemade Popsicles? This little guide will tell you what you need and we will show systematically how to create these tempting treats with fruit flavor.

1. The first step is to gather supplies. Note: This guide assumes you have a freezer in your home or apartment! Apart from this fundamental unit, you need a ice cube tray plastic, several sheets of aluminum foil, and a handful of small Popsicle sticks. For this project, try to use the skinny sticks can find, because the ice cubes are not very big!

2. Find all fruit juices that have in your refrigerator without freezer. This is where you get to be creative: Mix and match your favorite juice to create the ultimate flavor Popsicle mix. Juices such as orange, apple, grapefruit and mix very well together. On the other hand, may well be some pre-packaged mixes for your account. You may try to orange strawberry banana, mango, peach or orange, to fly too away from your palate.

3. Remove the ice tray and place on a table that does not mind getting a little juice from some spills. If you are a neat freak, be sure to put a towel or it will have some sticky upholstery! Next, take the juice and pour mixture evenly into each pocket of the cube.

4. Once the juice has been spilled, take a sheet of aluminum foil and place on top of the ice cube tray. Fold the edges so that the blade has a strong influence on the ice container.

5. Make a hole through the foil with one of the Popsicle sticks to make you feel halfway submerged in the juice from the bottom (which will have to guess a bit here.) Repeat this for the rest of the sixteen or more bags of ice cubes. Carefully place in the freezer.

You’ll have to wait several hours for cooking to be ready, but well worth it when you do. There is nothing more refreshing than coming inside after a long, hot day out and pop a cold ice-cube-sized pallets in the mouth. Enjoy!

Total Recall: Beckinsale didn’t want to hit Biel

Kate Beckinsale has revealed she felt nervous having to fight Jessica Biel in the remake of Total Recall, in case she damaged the actress’s face.
“I was nervous having to throw 17 punches at that face, in case I would be sued into the next lifetime,” she told a press conference in Cancun, Mexico.

The pair team up with Irish actor Colin Farrell in the futuristic action film, being released in the UK later this year.

Jessica, 30, admitted it was strange fighting another woman for a change: “Kate and I usually have to fight monsters and vampires, so now we were dealing with long hair and bra straps.”
Kate, 38, added: “There was a lot of ‘Oh no, I’m so sorry did I touch you [there]?’.”

The British star of the Underworld franchise, who is married to Total Recall director Len Wiseman, said her teenage daughter Lily and a friend came on set and learnt the moves to her fight with Biel.
“Jessica and I taught them the whole fight and they learnt it in about 19 minutes, when it had taken us about two weeks. The costume department made them mini versions of our outfits.”

The original film, based on the 1966 short story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale by Philip K Dick, was released in 1990, starring Arnold Swarzenegger as the lead character who has memories implanted in his brain.

The cast were asked what memories they’d like to have implanted. Kate said: “I’ve always wanted to bottle feed a baby lamb. I did once miss a school trip to a farm at a crucial stage.”

Kate Covers Maxim

Kate, Jessica Biel, and Colin Farrell are on the cover of the August Maxim. Here is an excerpt of the interview, with pictures:

Jessica on fighting Kate:
“Kate and I laughed about that one of a lot. We never get to fight women in our movies, so we never had hair to deal with. I’d fake-punch her, her here would go flying and get caught in my button, and I’d be stuck to her head.”

Kate on the public’s excitement over the return of ‘Total Recall’:
“I have been quite surprised about that, especially in the age of people watching porn on their cell phones. It seems like, if you wanted to, you could find a woman having sex with any kind of animal in about one second. At one point, when it looked like I wouldn’t be able to play Lori, I was going to do a cameo as the three breasted woman!”

Kate on her support of gun control and gun safety:

“It’s really important. I have a child. I want her to be safe. With the rise of gun related crime, it’s important to educate people on the importance of gun control. I mean people don’t even have gun vaults! Children die because of that.”

On the sexiest word in the English language:
Kate: It’s not bollocks, that’s for sure. I think the sexiest word is yes.
Colin: [whispers] Softly.
Jessica: Hippopotamus.
Colin: That’s a good one. I put those together for an absolute instant orgasm, [whispers] “Yes. Softly, hippopotamus.”

Is Underworld 5 in the works?

Rumours are starting to swirl about a possible Underworld 5 since Sony Pictures registered the URL UnderworldBattle.com on Tuesday (April 24).

The domain redirects to the ‘Underworld: Awakening’ page and as such is definitely linked to the franchise, whether it will be used in the marketing campaign for the ‘Awakening’ DVD or as a title for a likely Underworld 5.

No official announcement about the future of the Underworld franchise has been made so far.

Informal poll

I am undecided on what to do about something on the site so I thought I would ask for visitor input.  It has to do with candid photos.  Like a lot of people, I do enjoy seeing my favorite celebs in their day to day life – it makes them more “real”. However, a few of my celebs that I run sites for have been very outspoken on how much the paparazzi attention makes them uncomfortable and unhappy.  This has made me hesitant to post candids on all of my sites.  To my knowledge, Kate has never publicly said she hates the paparazzi and in any candid photos I’ve seen of her she doesn’t seem to mind.  But I am still unsure… especially when it comes to posting photos of her with Lily.

So I ask you loyal Kate Beckinsale Online visitors, what do you think?  Should I make the site paparazzi free? Should I continue posting candids? Should I only post candids that don’t have Lily in them?  Please take a few moments out of your day and leave your thoughts as a comment.
